Researchers have discovered that menstrual blood contains adult stem cells that can change into a wider variety of tissue types than regular adult stem cells. The researchers did the study because they suspected stem cells might be behind the rapid regeneration of the uterine lining during a woman’s cycle.
So menstrual blood, another part of a woman’s natural body process commonly considered disgusting and gross, actually yields amazing health benefits via stem cells. What a shock. Our bodies create beautiful living beings, yet the process by which life occurs is held in such low esteem by our society. What does that say of society’s view of women in general? Why are our bodies not held in the highest regard, and honored instead of reviled?
Note that placenta was not mentioned once in that article, even though it is a fabulous source of stem cells.
