Placenta Encapsulation Specialist®
Lauren D. Agro, CD(DONA), PES (PBi) - Baltimore, MD
Hello! My name is Lauren and I am the mother of a fantastic son, born in 2002. After his birth, my own doula and dear friend mentored me and encouraged my interest in the field of childbirth. With her help, I became a DONA certified labor doula.
I had an unmedicated birth, a great midwife, and a quick labor. I was lucky... and then the hard work of being a new mom hit me like a truck. Going through a divorce definitely didn't help postpartum depression either. I truly understand all the all the ups and downs of pregnancy, childbirth and that difficult postpartum period. Oh how I wished I'd known about PBi back then!
I became interested in placenta encapsulation in early 2008 when I read about it online. I happened to mention it to my sister when she became pregnant and she soon asked me to fly from Baltimore to Idaho to prepare her baby's placenta as my first certification encapsulation. With Jodi's help, I was honored to get the opportunity to help my sister in such a special way. Her results were very positive and she showed no signs of baby blues or postpartum depression. While it is something I never would have envisoned doing before I had a child, knowing what I know now, I can't imagine NOT helping new mothers in this very special way. I feel its so important for me to share my knowledge of the placenta so that it can help any women who are interested in its benefits.
I do have a day job too! I help make websites easier for people to use as a Usability Specialist for a large government agency. I am also a photographer; specializing in Maternity, Birth, and Newborn portraits. My other hobbies include learning, reading, concert going, carpooling to karate, doula-ing, and constantly home improvement-ing. I live the Hereford Zone of Baltimore County with my son and two cats, Leo and Zeus.
I look forward to using all of my placenta knowledge to help you avoid those baby blues and have an emotionally-sound, energetic, and joyous postpartum period. My hope is that in utilizing what nature has given you, you can become the best mommy you can be ~ naturally.
Testimonials
"Not only was Lauren professional, courteous, quick, clean and knowledgeable, she was also kind and brought a large amount of resources to help me. I am truly grateful for her services."
"Lauren's service, and her pills, are indispensable after birth. She brought me tons of resources and support materials. She helped me feel more confident in mothering my baby..."
"...Already feeling a LOT BETTER than I did after my previous baby..."
"Lauren was fantastic. She explained everything thoroughly, yet simply - including the history of placenta consumption, the dosages, and showed me and explained to me the anatomy of my own placenta. She was extremely polite, patient, and clean, and tolerant of the fact that we (my 2 year old and I) were underfoot in our very small kitchen. Both working with her and taking the capsules, has been a great experience."
"...Very thoughtful in regards to following up. It is nice having someone check on me. Everyone else is so engrossed with the new baby."
"This is my second encapsulation with Lauren - she is AMAZING! Very knowledgeable, thorough and compassionate when it comes to working with new mothers. I have seen tremendous benefit from taking my placenta... the addition of the mother's broth was by far the BEST postpartum recovery measure I've used; IMMEDIATE pain relief and emotional stability! I have and will continue to recommend Lauren and her services to other expectant mothers."
"Lauren was a pleasure to work with from the initial emails and phone calls to the actual 2 session process of encapsulation. She was extremely kind and professional and came with a wealth of knowledge. I enjoyed the few hours of talking while she made the capsules. I'm only three (3) days in, but my bleeding has dropped in half and my mood has been steady. I absolutely feel the effects of the mother's broth on my energy levels as well. I would highly recommend this process - and Lauren - to friends!"
"The kitchen was spotless when she was done. We couldn't recommend her enough!"
