The PBi Network of Specialists is delighted to announce that Kylie Plattnaik is the newest PBi-certified mentor. Kylie, a birth doula since 2007 has a wealth of experience and knowledge as it relates to pregnancy and childbirth. She has attended workshops and trained with some very prominent professionals in the birth arena such as Michael Odent and Penny Simkin.
Kylie first became intrigued by placenta encapsulation after she saw the results of one of her doula clients. She had also had the opportunity to prepare a raw placenta smoothie for a client and felt honored to be able to handle the very thing that sustained her client’s baby and pregnancy. She felt she was being called and knew placenta encapsulation would be a wonderful addition to her doula services.
It was a real privilege to make the placenta smoothie for my client. I found it a most interesting and amazing experience. It was so special to be handling the placenta, which just a short time ago was still inside my client’s body and responsible for keeping her baby alive. Making the smoothie was such a sacred process. -Kylie Plattnaik
Becoming certified takes lots of hard work and dedication. To become certified, a candidate must read and write response papers to research regarding placentophagy. The candidate must then prepare 3 placentas using the PBi method of encapsulation, and complete a food safety course to be in line with state and local regulations.
