There has been a multi-state meningitis outbreak, resulting in the FDA recall of contaminated injectable medications believed to be the cause. Of the 34 contaminated drugs were epidural anesthetics, steroids, and saline solutions. All the drugs were produced and distributed by New England Compound Center (NECC) in Framingham, Mass., and are administered by injection into the spine.
