Dr. Kristine Tohtz discovered chiropractic and holistic medicine at a young age. Having seen the wonders that chiropractic and acupuncture had on her family, she decided to dedicate her life to helping others with their ailments in a holistic manner incorporating these two healing arts into one practice.
Dr. Tohtz graduated magna cum laude from the National University of Health Sciences in April 2001. While attending chiropractic school, she also began working toward a diplomate in Acupuncture and in August 2009 received her Diplomate in Acupuncture from the American Chiropractic Associations’s Council on Chiropractic Acupuncture of which she now sits on the board as the secretary.
She completed her Acupuncture degree graduating summa cum laude at the National University of Health Sciences in 2014. In April 2009, Dr. Tohtz completed a certification in Pregnancy and Pediatric care through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (icpa4kids.com). She is also a certified post partum doula and the Illinois state representative for Maternity Wise (maternitywise.com) and in 2012 became certified to perform placenta encapsulation through Placenta Benefits (placentabenefits.info). As a Certified Yoga Instructor through the Temple of Kriya Yoga, Dr. Tohtz uses the combination of all of these healing arts in a coupled manner for rehabilitation, treatment and general stress management.
So that she may offer the most cutting edge treatment options for her patients, Dr. Tohtz attends numerous continuing education courses in rehabilitation, McKenzie and DNS, yoga, nutritional therapies and functional medicine, acupuncture, Chinese medicine and other forms of alternative medicine such as hypnotherapy of which she holds a certificate from the National Guild of Hypnotherpay.
Dr. Tohtz served as an instructor in the department of Chiropractic Practice and as a staff clinician at the National University of Health Sciences for 4 years after she graduated. She continues to teach Pregnancy and Pediatric care as well as Acupuncture through the University’s Post Graduate Education Department.
A consummate teacher to both her patients and her colleagues, Dr Tohtz extends her teaching to others through Back Safety Training Programs, corporate yoga, stress management and proper ergonomics for numerous industries such as Commonwealth Edison, A. Epstein, Network of Women Entrepreneurs, Columbia College and AA-Razorfish to name a few. She is also the lead instructor for Fusion Healthcare – offering classes on integrative medicine, pregnancy and pediatric care and acupuncture.
