Congratulations to Carmen Calvo, a Certifed Placenta Encapsulation Specialist® in Baltimore, MD, on becoming PBi’s newest mentor!
Carmen became a Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist® after her experience as a placenta encapsulation client. After suffering from anxiety and the baby blues following her first pregnancy, Carmen turned to placenta encapsulation to help her recover from her second birth. The difference in her postpartum experiences were so significant, she felt inspired to help other mothers achieve the same results.
“When I was able to enjoy my babymoon without feeling weepy, overwhelmed, and anxious, I knew I had hit the jackpot. I wanted to tell everyone I knew how much I believed in placenta as a tool for postpartum recovery. It was then that I realized I was being called to serve the women in my community during their very special and delicate postpartum period.”
Carmen offers a variety of placenta encapsulation services at The Nurturing Root and serves Baltimore, Annapolis, and the Eastern Shore. Learn more about Carmen’s services.
Becoming certified takes lots of hard work and dedication. To become certified, a candidate must read and write response papers to research regarding placentophagy. The candidate must then prepare 3 placentas using the PBi method of encapsulation, and complete a food safety course to adhere to state and local regulations. Being a mentor means you are one of the most experienced specialists and are able to adequately provide education and support to new PESes. Learn more about the PBi training program.
