Greetings! I am a very proud mama of two beautiful
daughters, and married to a very supportive husband. I
reside in the 'quiet corner' of northeastern
Connecticut, but my roots are in neighboring Rhode
Island. My personal hobbies include hiking with my dogs,
gardening, and making chocolate.
In 1999, I
graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Rhode Island
College with intentions to continue my education and
become a counselor, but having my girls changed
everything. I was surprised to find the process of
giving birth, for me, to be ecstatic and
transformational. That awesome experience has guided me
to find my passion for birth work! I have since changed
my focus to service other women, and I have been
attending births as a labor doula since 2005.
Although I had wonderful birth experiences, my
postpartum days were less than ecstatic. I suffered
silently through postpartum depression with my first
daughter, and sought help when it hit again with my
second daughter. If only I knew about placenta
encapsulation then, I could have definitely benefited
from it! We did, however, bury our girls' placentas
under baby trees in our back yard in a Blessing
Ceremony. Becoming a Placenta Encapsulation
Specialist is a great way to further assist the moms in
my community, and I look forward to it. It would be an
honor to enhance their postpartum days with the natural
wellness that this great service can provide.
