Hello, I'm Mendy......
I became interested in working with pregnant and new families while I was
practicing massage therapy, I especially liked doing prenatal and postpartum
massage. I'd always considered becoming a midwife, but wanted to start my
own family first. A client of mine was a doula teacher, and it only seemed
natural for me to become a doula. I've been practicing as a birth and
postpartum doula now since 2002. I like to focus my expertise to prenatal
and postpartum services, so I also work as a Whole Birth prenatal yoga
instructor, and a Birthing From Within childbirth mentor. I love to do art,
especially on belly's, so I do belly casting and belly henna as well!
The first time I saw a picture of a placenta, and how much it resembles
the Tree of Life, I knew that there was something too special about this
organ for us to be throwing it away after birth! I read some stories about
how some cultures keep the placenta and plant a tree with it to symbolize
the growth of their child, so I decided to do that after the birth of my
first child.
My interest in Placenta Encapsulation sparked specifically when my
midwives suggested I try it after the birth of my 2nd child. I had expressed
to them my concern about how difficult postpartum recovery was for me the
first time, and that I had been on the verge of postpartum anxiety and
depression. I wanted to do everything I could to ensure a much smoother
transition this time. The healing it offered really surprised me. I had a
much easier recovery in comparison to my first. I experienced less mood
swings and I had more energy, even though I was chasing after a 3 year old
and having an infant to take care of, I was astounded by the benefits I was
feeling! I read a story about Placenta Benefits in the Compleat Mother
magazine, and decided to enroll in the program.
I'm very excited to be able to offer this great service and healing
benefits to clients, and to preserve and enhance this "Tree of Life" that
grows within and for us.
